New developments in artificial intelligence (AI) are rapidly transforming how we work, learn, and interact with one another.  This workshop is designed to empower teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to make decisions regarding how to use the tools to design lessons and as an aid to personalize instruction for their students. They will discuss the risks and benefits associated with its use, explore how it works with hands-on activities, and use that knowledge to create a sample lesson.

Morning: Provide participants with an understanding of the following:

  1. What is artificial intelligence?
  2. How does it work?
  3. What benefits does it offer?
  4. What are the risks?
  5. How will it potentially impact the future of work?
  6. How is it transforming education?
  7. What are AI ethics and why should I get involved?

Afternoon: Introduce participants to AI-powered tools that can be used for classroom instruction, provide them with an opportunity to explore them, and use that information to create a sample lesson.

  1. Introduce the audience to generative AI platforms (ChatGtp3, Dalle-2, MidJourney, and etc).
  2. Group discussion regarding their application as an instructional tool and the potential risks and benefits of their use.
  3. How the technology can be used as a tool to assist teachers in the development of lessons and assessments.
  4. Provide participants time to explore and experiment with the technology to develop a deeper understanding and to create a sample lesson.

This training will be held on June 8, 2023 at the ROE #3 Professional Development Center from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The cost to attend this training is $100/person and lunch will be provided.
